About

A town guide, not a trail map.

Locals’ Line tells you how a mountain-bike town works on the ground: who shuttles, who rents, which beds claim to be bike-friendly, when the season actually is, and which page to open for conditions. It does not draw routes.

This first version has ten draft town pages. The notes were checked October 15, 2026. The writeups live in the repo as markdown and the site renders those files. Nothing on a town page was filled in from memory.

What the badges mean

The source notes use a few different words for the same idea. The badges line them up.

  • Verified The fact was on the business’s own site, or an official source, on the check date. The URL is printed next to it.
  • Partial It showed up on a page that was checked, but a price, an address, or some other detail was missing or came from a third party.
  • Unverified It was not confirmed on a checked page. “Secondary” and “search-summary” notes are in this family. Treat them as leads.
  • Stale Closures, suspensions, and old conditions reports. They stay on the page so a rosy summary can’t hide them.

Dates

Every town page shows its checked-on date. Conditions blocks show that date again, and the source text keeps whatever date was on the report. Those are not the same thing. A page checked on October 15, 2026 can still be quoting a conditions note from March. Salida’s official page is the clearest example: the check date is October 15, and the report itself says March 30.

What we leave out

No invented businesses, prices, hours, reviews, or traffic numbers. If a rental page didn’t print a rate, the town page doesn’t guess one. Hours appear only where a checked page printed them.

Prices change with the season. The number on the page is the number that was published on the check date, not a promise for next Saturday.

This version is a draft

Re-check anything marked partial or unverified before you count on it. The open questions called out in the notes are Desert Mountain Shuttle in Fruita, Simple Lodge’s bike storage in Salida, and Hood River’s Fat Tire Farm winter dates.

There are no affiliate links, sponsor deals, analytics, or trackers yet. Empty slots mark where those could go later. The sponsor page explains that, and the privacy note says what the site does not collect.
